About
Hi, I'm Margherita,
I'm a civic practitioner, democracy activist, storyteller, and researcher working at the intersection of community, democracy, and place.
My work is rooted in a commitment to renewing democracy from the ground up, strengthening community power, and reimagining how people participate in shaping the places they call home.
As a co-founder of Commonground Initiatives and a grassroots community organiser, I lead and develop initiatives for local and hyperlocal democratic renewal, working directly with communities to strengthen civic agency, collective leadership, and participation in public life.

I am born Italian, yet my ancestral lineage traces back to Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Austria.
My journey began in grassroots activism at 18 and has since taken me across the international nonprofit and social justice sectors. With over a decade of experience in organisational leadership, strategy, fundraising, and movement building, I've worked alongside feminist, human rights, and grassroots organisations to strengthen their impact, sustainability, and capacity for change.
Alongside my civic practice, I explore the everyday making and unmaking of community through writing, documentary storytelling, and participatory research.
Moving between Berlin and the Mediterranean, I'm particularly interested in the people, places, and practices that shape belonging, identity, and democratic life.
